universities Equestrian Studies Program is designed to provide students with all the skills they need to have a long and successful career in the equine industry by providing the knowledge and experience that is unmatched by any other university. The program has a twelve member department is composed of professional trainers, judges, exhibitors and breeders who are all actively involved in certain topics and issues have a realistic vision of the horse industry. The universities Western Equestrian Studies program will teach students the techniques of showmanship, horsemanship and western pleasure in their first year of training. The program will then evolve to break horses, cutting tapes and complete pleasure horse show ring. There are also other areas of the western discipline will be discussed as western riding and trail. Students will also be taught a number of different customer relation skills and how to produce a horse that can easily be ridden by their owners. In addition to great riding part of the program, students will also go in depth into nutrition, reproduction, business management, judge, and preventive medicine. There are also special courses available that will cover sales, marketing, promotion, skills, therapeutic riding and exercise physiology.
The Enska equestrian Research focuses the fundamental principles of English riding and training and will develop, however, hunters, jumpers and dressage. Students will then practice unbroken horse to the extent determined by their teachers. Students can also take a few classes upper floor where they will learn more advanced riding and training procedures for both flat and over fences. Specific areas covered include sales, marketing, promotion and business skills.
The Equine Business Management Program combines different courses equine science with management issues and traditional business management subject and is designed for students who prefer to spout a career in the equine industry other than in the field of training. Students will learn about the laws that affect the horse industry and many other practical issues involving management of livestock, reproduction management, disease prevention and choose, operations and maintenance of farm equipment. All Equestrian Studies students are highly encouraged to carry another more or less to increase career options in the equine industry.
all equestrian majors are eligible for a variety of academic scholarships awarded annually. There are also internships that are available to give students more hands on experience within the equine industry. There are internships available for academic credit or students can choose vocational taken for zero credit. Internships are available for students in Western riding, English riding, or business management.
There are also several different student organizations available and include the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, Intercollegiate Dressage Association, Horse Club, UF Horsemen American Collegiate Horse Show Association, and the University of Findlay Vaulters. All these different clubs for any student who is interested in horses and the equine industry.
